Kinewell Energy Shortlisted for Global Offshore Wind Awards 2024

by | Sep 24, 2024 | Awards, Kinewell Energy

We are thrilled to announce that Kinewell Energy has been shortlisted for the prestigious Global Offshore Wind Awards 2024, hosted by RenewableUK.

As a small but rapidly growing company with big ambitions we are incredibly proud to stand alongside industry giants in this celebration of excellence and innovation in the offshore wind sector. Our shortlisting reflects our dedication to pushing boundaries, fostering inclusivity, and developing cutting-edge solutions that contribute to the growth and sustainability of the offshore wind sector.

We are honored to be shortlisted in multiple categories, including the Equity and Inclusivity Award, and our leadership team being recognised in the Future Leader category.

We are eagerly looking forward to joining our industry colleagues at the glittering awards ceremony in London this October, where we’ll discover if our innovative efforts have secured us a win in these highly competitive categories.

Here’s a closer look at our nominations and the outstanding work our team has been doing to drive innovation and inclusivity in the offshore wind sector

Dr Andrew Jenkins, CEO & Founder, Kinewell Energy – Shortlisted for Future Leader Award.

Andrew has made significant contributions to the industry through innovative software solutions like KLOC, which optimises offshore wind farm cable layouts. Under his leadership, Kinewell Energy has seen remarkable growth and was recognised in last year’s awards as industry Gamechagers. Andrew’s commitment to fostering talent, promoting diversity, and inspiring the next generation of engineers is evident through initiatives like EduKLOC, a free educational tool. His collaborative approach and focus on solving industry challenges have not only driven Kinewell’s success but also contributed to the broader goals of the offshore wind sector and the push towards net-zero emissions.

Dr Henna Bains, CTO, Kinewell Energy – Shortlisted for Future Leader Award.

Henna’s remarkable journey from PhD research to CTO exemplifies visionary leadership and innovation. Henna spearheaded the development of the Kinewell Designing Offshore Transmission Systems (KDOTS) software, addressing critical challenges in offshore wind energy transmission. Her work bridges academia and industry, driving innovation through partnerships with Durham University and the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult. As CTO, Henna leads Kinewell’s technology development, implementing solutions that optimise offshore wind planning and contribute to the net-zero transition. A role model for women in STEM, she actively engages in outreach, inspiring the next generation of engineers. Her contributions have been recognised by her inclusion in the We Are Power’s Future list at the 2023 North Power Women’s Awards, marking her as a change-maker shaping the future of the offshore wind industry.

Kinewell Energy – Shortlisted for Equity and Inclusivity Award

Kinewell Energy has implemented agile working policies, fostering a diverse workforce that significantly outperforms industry norms with 31% female representation, including CTO Dr. Henna Bains. Kinewell’s unique recruitment strategy, based on values and transferable skills, attracts professionals from diverse backgrounds including from beyond the offshore wind sector. This makes Kinewell’s recruitment unconstrained by the poor demographic mix of the sector. Furthermore, the company actively participates in inclusive employment schemes like Karbon Homes New Start and the Kickstart Scheme, creating opportunities for underrepresented groups. Educational initiatives such as EduKLOC and university internships further demonstrate Kinewell’s commitment to accessibility and diversity. With its inclusive technology development, including multi-language software translations, Kinewell Energy is setting new benchmarks for equity and inclusivity in the offshore wind sector, contributing to a more innovative and equitable industry.
