Northern Gas Networks HyCoRe programme
In collaboration with Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult, Kinewell Energy are delivering a Hydrogen Cost Reduction ( HyCoRe ) programme on behalf of Northern Gas Networks funded by Ofgem’s strategic investment fund (SIF). Using KDOTS alongside KLOC, the project has improved understanding around integration between offshore wind and electrolysis to create green hydrogen. In particular, the project focused on the optimal placement of infrastructure, such as electrolysers and energy storage.

Kinewell’s software will allow us to look at ways of optimising the layout of our inter array cables and Offshore Substation (OSPs) locations at an earlier stage of the design, giving us the opportunity to find potential cost savings in multiple areas of the project reducing our Levelized Cost of Electricity (LCOE).
